Hyperion Certified Consultant — Hyperion Essbase 7.1.2

Meet Will

In today's business, it is necessary to provide more than just numbers and reports to the decision makers. Business intelligence is all about taking the numbers from their sources and making useful information available to managers. The analysis necessary involves developing meaningful business performance measures and integrating information from sources outside the business to look forward as well as reviewing the past. An effective analyst couples technical skills with business knowledge and communication skills in order to provide decision makers with the information necessary to optimize business performance.

Will Jordan brings the blend of technical, analysis, and communication skills necessary to enhance any business.

Industrial Translation

When people ask me what I do, I tell them that I am an industrial translator. I take numbers from the people and systems that make numbers and combine them into information that helps a manager understand what is happening in the business.

Turning data into information requires business analysis skills as well as a good information technology toolset. The nature of my background required me to quickly evaluate a business, identify what was important to the operation of that business, and to determine measures that accurately measured the business operations.

In addition to knowing how businesses operate, it is necessary to determine what data are available on operations in addition to financial data, determine the best ways of integrating and analyzing the data, and present the resulting information.

Any presentation of information is flawed unless it is useful, accessible, and can be maintained by permanent staff. This means that there needs to be a significant knowledge transfer between the consultants and or developer implementing a solution and the personnel who will be assigned to maintain it. While continuing support by the consulting team or developer may be available, it is important that training and documentation are part of the initial development package.
